ABOUT

Music Tech Europe is the umbrella association of national music technology associations and music industry bodies representing institutions and organisations that are determined to develop and accelerate innovation in the music sector.

As an independent non-profit organisation, Music Tech Europe serves as main point of contact in Europe for innovation in the music sector. Its network accumulates the expertise of some of the most respected European music and technology organisations to jointly push the boundaries of the music ecosystem.

The association brings together its stakeholders at European level and is the largest and most representative organisation for the European music tech ecosystem.

Music Tech Europe was founded in January 2024 and is established as an international non-profit organisation under Estonian law.

MISSION

Our mission is to facilitate and further develop a strong music tech ecosystem in Europe by fostering successful innovation for the sustainable development of the European music sector and by improving the overall environment and underlying economic infrastructure necessary for European music technology innovations to thrive.

Music and technology have always been interconnected. With emerging technologies presenting significant growth potential and positive impacts for music businesses, communities, and artists, there is a critical opportunity to strengthen the ties between these sectors.

Music Tech Europe is committed to building bridges and facilitating dialogues between the music and technology sectors, positioning innovation in the music sector as a core component of European competitive advantages in the creative industries.

VALUE PROPOSITION

We stand for transparent and efficient knowledge transfer between technology providers and the music sector, collective intelligence, open knowledge, cross-border collaboration, applied innovation of practically oriented and scientific research, greater diversity and inclusion.

ACTIVITIES

Music Tech Europe's mission will be implemented through the following set of activities that address our mission and values.

Initiate discussions on the future of the music ecosystem.

Provide access to a network of music and technology experts.


Facilitate workshops, conferences and networking events.


Create studies and reports about the European music tech ecosystem.


Promote applied research for solutions across the music sector.

Organise music industry testbeds for faster tracks to innovation.

Conduct advocacy of common member interests to EU institutions.

Evaluate challenges of artists and music industry stakeholders.

Music Tech Europe’s membership structure reflects the diversity and dynamism of the sector, consisting of a wide range of national entities from associations and hubs to networks and private organisations. All united by the common determination of their individual stakeholders to develop and accelerate innovation in the music ecosystem.

Germany's Federal Association for Music Technology

Founded in 2017 as the world’s first Association for Music Technology, MusicTech Germany has paved the way for organised networks of music tech organisations. At the core of its mission: Promoting innovation through collaboration and bridging the communication and knowledge gap between the traditional music industry and visionary pioneers with technology-driven solutions for music and its ecosystem. 

The association seeks to promote the joint interests of its members and to support innovators in fulfilling their mission by initiating interactive multi-disciplinary events and by communicating with and counseling of inter/national policy makers, industry executives, media representatives, as well as artists, music enthusiasts, and the general public. 

As an independent organization, MusicTech Germany is the main point of contact for music technology in Germany. The association connects the dots for its members who address the challenges of the music value chain in the digital age.

Furthermore, the association fosters the knowledge transfer between visionaries from all intersections of the creative industries. It serves as a mediator and independent catalyst to help accelerate avant-garde approaches, determined to further the innovative potential and future success of artists and pioneers by improving the creative environment and underlying economic infrastructure.

Created in 2019 during the MaMA music convention, Music Tech France (MTF) is an association bringing together business players whose core business is innovation in music to form a strong community. Music Innovation Hub (Italy)

Music Innovation Hub powers innovative and socially responsible projects in the music industry. Established in Milan in 2018, it is the first social enterprise spa in Italy dedicated to music. MIH works to support the growth of the music industry and its stakeholders, guiding companies towards a more sustainable future through musical projects.

MIH promotes training programs, incubation, acceleration, and networking initiatives nationally and internationally. Since 2018, MIH has placed music at the center of all our activities as a vehicle for promoting the 2030 Agenda: as a testing ground, MIH has undertaken significant projects such as the Heroes Festival and Elisa's Back to the Future Tour. Simultaneously, the music industry itself has been the subject of careful study on internal innovation needs.

In 2021, MIH launched the first European accelerator for music tech startups, Music Tech Europe Academy. The new edition was unveiled in November 2023 during the Linecheck Music Meeting and Festival, the Italian music conference produced by MIH, which has become a key player at the European level. The tenth edition is scheduled in 2024 from November 18 to 23 at BASE Milano and other venues across the city.

M.E.S.O. Music Events (Greece)

MESO Music Events (MESO) is a not-for-profit organisation based in Athens, Greece. Launched in 1998, MESO has created several “Public-Private Partnership (PPP)” initiatives to foster capacity building for artists, music professionals and entrepreneurs in Greece and in Europe. We believe in empowering artists, music professionals, entrepreneurs and music tech savants, ensuring they have access to opportunities that foster growth and creativity. 

Over the years, the team has developed innovative networks at national, regional and European level, to maximize the efficiency and the sustainable impact of our activities, with the aim to provide equal access and chances to all, to strengthen the music sector and to connect Greece and the Balkans with the wider music ecosystem.

Our unwavering dedication to the development of the music ecosystem has positioned us as a reference point with activities and events focusing on music production, live events, vocational and educational training, artistic development, music entrepreneurship and recently music and tech. 

During the last 10 years, we have developed our activities based on a “cross-sectoral” strategy, creating a framework of complementary events and activities, to support amateur, young and established music professionals with a holistic approach. We created partnerships with organisations from all over Europe, to develop transnational educational and business programs, emphasizing on collaboration, capacity and community-building. 

We launched European networks from scratch, to generate projects such as the NIMPE, JUMP, HEMI, Music Tech Europe Academy or CCLEP programs, providing Mentorship, Incubation, acceleration and networking opportunities which benefited to hundreds of music professionals (artists, event organisers, promoters, entrepreneurs etc.), in Greece and in Europe.
